Kolusu Parthasarathy is an experienced politician from Andhra Pradesh with a long-standing career in state politics. He was born on 18 April 1965 in Karakampadu, Krishna District, into a politically active family. His father, Kolusu Peda Reddaiah, served as a Member of Parliament from Machilipatnam and was also a legislator from Vuyyuru. Parthasarathy completed his intermediate education at St. Joseph Junior College, Hyderabad, and later enrolled for a B.Tech degree at CBIT, Hyderabad, which he did not complete.
Parthasarathy began his political journey with the Indian National Congress (INC). He was first elected as MLA from the Vuyyuru constituency in 2004. Following constituency reorganization, he contested from Penamaluru and won in 2009. During his tenure, he held several ministerial portfolios, including Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Dairy Development and Secondary Education, serving as the last minister for Secondary Education before the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
In 2014, he joined the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and was elected again as MLA from Penamaluru in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. In 2024, he shifted to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and contested from Nuzvid, winning the election. He was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in Andhra Pradesh under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, handling portfolios including Housing and Information & Public Relations.
Over his career, Parthasarathy has won elections from three different constituencies — Vuyyuru, Penamaluru, and Nuzvid — showing his political influence and popularity. He is recognized for his connection with various communities, particularly the Backward Classes, and for his work in completing housing projects for the poor and improving local infrastructure.
Parthasarathy has also faced challenges, such as switching political parties and addressing internal party issues, demonstrating adaptability and resilience in his political journey. He remains a key figure in Andhra Pradesh politics, known for his experience, leadership, and commitment to public service.
